There are three types of leads in network marketing: the vigilant, the open-minded and the close-minded.







The Vigilant 
These people ask a lot of questions about the opportunity. These leads have the highest chance to be converted into prospects as long as you are able to answer every question they ask. These kind of people are already interested about your offer and what they need is just a little bit of assurance that you will be able to help them along the way. If this is the kind of lead you are talking to, you need to follow these guidelines:

1. State all the information about the opportunity. Do not hide any details.
2. Answer all questions with honesty.
3. Let them conduct their own research about the company because this will help them be convinced once other people's opinions are put into the mix.
4. Do not be overly positive. Be real and state whatever negative things there are in the opportunity.
5. Do not retaliate if the individual is somehow testing you. Most likely, they are trying to see how you handle the situation at hand. 

The Open-Minded 
There are two kinds of open-minded leads: the hyped and the observer.

Hyped people are so interested to join your opportunity and with that, you don't need to convince them anymore. The problem with hyped people is that they are going to become detractors when they are not able to meet their own expectations regarding the opportunity. To remedy this situation, you must train them properly so that they will be able to cope up and achieve what they expect to attain.

Observers are most likely to join your organzation but they need to see results first. These people will always say that they will join you in a matter of time and that usually happens when they see some results from you. All you need to do to convert them as prospects is to update them frequently so that they will be able to monitor the progress of the opportunity offered to them.

The Close-minded 
These people are one of the hardest to convert into prospects. Most of the time, they have a negative image on the opportunity that you are presenting because of several factors. The best thing to do when talking to leads like this is to listen to what they have to say. Do not retaliate and tell them that they are wrong or that you are right. You need to listen to them so that you can understand their point of view. Once you see where the problem lies, that's the time you focus on that problem and make it an opportunity to educate them about it.

These are the types of leads that most network marketers will be talking to. Do not get mad at people when they state negative things about our industry. There are a lot of factors why they are like that so you need to be understanding for them. The best way to deal with negative people is to listen to their story and react in such a way that would not be offensive to them. Always act professional and don't let emotions get ahead of you.
