How Freelancing Works

Freelancing is providing a specific service that you can provide through your skills that are much needed by project managers and clients. Work at Home or Home based jobs is the popular term for this self employment opportunity. You can take on a project in 2 ways:

1. Be fully employed with an hourly wage.
2. Be contractual and get paid before and after the project is done.

You can choose the kind of job you would like to be hired into like copywriting (PDF to Word), Encoding, becoming a virtual assistant, being a call center agent (Voice / Non-voice), Web designing and many more.

How to freelance and get your funds

1. Create a paypal account. This will be your online wallet to get funds from the freelancing website you joined in.

2. Create your profile. Make sure to provide all the details and skills you have. Your profile will be the basis for the clients to see if you fit the job description for their projects.

3. To improve your credibility, reputation and skills, take tests and join groups to have a higher chance of getting hired by clients.

4. Apply on available jobs that you think you can handle. Remember that you can only apply around 30 - 60 jobs per month. Try applying only on jobs that require the skills that you have.

5. Once you're hired, get a Union Bank EON card and connect it to your paypal account so that you can easily withdraw your funds.

Things to Remember:

1. There are a lot of Filipinos doing this self employment opportunity. There's a lot of competition between freelancers who try to take on available projects. Around 30 freelancers are competing for each online job available.

2. This is my Freelancing Portfolio:

3 Months Call Center Agent (Voice)
4 Months Live chat support for 4 Websites
6 Months Virtual Assistant for 2 projects
1 Year Social Media Marketer
5 years Encoder
5 years English Teacher

With these experiences, It's still hard to get a job because other freelancers have better skills and more experiences than that of mine.

3. It is better to be fully employed, garnering 8 hours of work daily, than being a contractual one because it defeats the possibility of not getting paid. Project based jobs are quite risky due to the instance that the project handler might not pay you when the project ends.

4. Do not try to do other things during your work hours because most freelancing websites record the activity of freelancers during their work hours. You can easily get fired if your client catches you doing other things besides your job.
